I’m Michelle. I like movies. I like to write. And I like to write about movies.
I’ve been doing it since I was a freshman in college, a wee young’un at the University of Oklahoma. In mid-2005, I started “The Barenaked Critic” as a column on Hollywood Elsewhere, run by the wonderful Jeffrey Wells.
If you kept up with it there, well, you know that once I graduated, regular movie viewings went downhill but quick. With a real full-time job and other things eating up my time, movies got pushed way, way back.
So here I am, with a new blog (if not a new name), ready to kick some ass and take some names.
The Big Reason I Started Reviewing Movies
I think every critic has that one movie that they love that first drew them to movies. For me, it was The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The movie absolutely blew me away, and was the first film that made me thing that I could do things with my writing other than just novels. (I know it seems like I should’ve figured that out by the time I was 18, but what can I say? I’m slow in some respects.)
